Abbey in Auberive

This once-prosperous Cistercian abbey, founded in 1135, has suffered damage from wars over the years; in the 19th century, it served as a central women’s prison, and today it houses a museum of contemporary art.

In July and August, art workshops are offered for both adults and children.

The chapel, cloister, garden of fragrant roses, orchard of heirloom fruit trees, and current exhibition will surprise you with the contrast they create.
